Fizzing Bath Salts Recipe

Makes 2kg of Fizzing Bath Salts

You will need:

500g Coarse or Fine Sea Salts
500g Dead Sea Salts
500g Sodium Bicarbonate
500g Citric Acid
20ml Essential Oil
Tiny amount of Cosmetic Pigment if colour is desired
10-20ml Essential Oil of your choice
Small Airtight Glass Jars

Directions:

Sieve the sodium bicarbonate into a mixing bowl to remove any lumps.

Add the salts and citric acid and mix very thoroughly until evenly combined.

If you want coloured salts, add a tiny amount of pigment using the tip of a teaspoon and stir in really well until all of the grains are an even shade. Add more pigment for a stronger colour but please note that the shade will darken once the essential oil is added. Also, too much pigment can stain plastic baths and towels so be sparing.

Drip the essential oil evenly over the surface of the salts while stirring them. Mix well for several minutes.

Leave the salts in a warm place overnight so that they can dry out and absorb the essential oil.

The salts may form a solid lump when drying out. If this happens, place them in a strong polythene bag and break them up gently using a wood rolling pin. Leave for longer if necessary to ensure that they have dried through thoroughly.

Once they are completely dry and free-flowing put the salts into the jars.

The salts can be used straight away or stored until needed.

Add around half a cup of grains to your bath. They'll gently fizz and release soothing salts and a nice aroma.
